Aswin Vijai
Aswin has been synthesising upconversion and downconversion nanoparticles here in Manchester this summer in order to study their luminescence and physical properties. In his spare time Aswin likes fast cars, drinking and dancing, but he can most often be found dribbling... on the football pitch. He also (wrongly) believes he's the most amazing person in the world. |
Adrien Moll
Adrien popped over from the Ecole Nationale Superieure de Chimie de Rennes (ENSCR) in France to spend a surprisingly sunny summer in Manchester developing new ligands for the TALSPEAK process. When not in the lab Adrien spends his time playing the trumpet and has been trying to see as much of the UK as he can while he's here. |
Mathieu Xemard
Mathieu has been working on photoswitches on azobenzene based macrocyclic complexes of lanthanides during his time in the Natrajan group. While in Manchester Mathieu has also enjoyed playing with Lizzie in her orchestra and the group have introduced him to their favourite non-science activity: dancing at Big Hands. |
Elisabeth Kreidt
Elisabeth arrived from the Ruhr University Bochum in Germany in late September to work on cyclen based ligands and their complexation chemistry for six weeks. Elisabeth has fantastic comprehension of English and has enjoyed English culture, particularly fish and chips. She is also a keen walker in her spare time. |
Kevin Beal
Kevin arrived in Early July from Montpellier in France and worked on cyclen-based ligands and their chemistry with the f-elements for three months, working closely with Mike. Kevin immediately took to thursday pint sessions with the group and was always keen to try and understand the varied accents in radiochemistry. He also took up monday football with the inorganic chemistry crowd. In his spare time Kevin is David Belle, French action movie star and parkour specialist |
