Louise’s main interests are in luminescence spectroscopy and actinide chemistry, but she also dabbles in lanthanide and d-metal/ organic chemistry in her exploration of two-photon chemistry and up-conversion. Research into actinide chemistry involves exploration of actinyl units (especially the ever-elusive uranyl(V)) and increasing understanding of the fundamental spectroscopic properties of air-sensitive actinide complexes, including uranium mono-oxo species and uranium(IV) chemistry.

Apart from the joy of seeing a nicely resolved emission spectrum, Louise enjoys going to the gym, dogs and (above all) Thursday pints.
